Through the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Commission on Certification, directors of security, safety, emergency preparedness and risk management administrators can achieve the highly coveted Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) designation. Not only does this signify a high level of competence, it also demonstrates the individual's commitment to excellence and continuing study.

The Certified Healthcare Protection Administrators (CHPA) exam is administered by the Commission to those individuals successfully qualifying for the exam. The program consists of progressive credentialing levels with qualified candidates accepted into the credentialing program at the Graduate level. Once this level is achieved each candidate has twelve months (12) in which to become a Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA).

Graduate level qualifiers must successfully pass the written CHPA examination covering current reference materials. Qualified candidates may prepare for the exam by utilizing the study exam provided and the references listed. If you fail to pass, the fee for retest is $100.00.

The CHPA Examination is administered at IAHSS seminars, the annual meeting or online and must be arranged in advance. All examinations require an approved proctor. There is a nonrefundable application fee of $400.00 that includes the examination itself. CHPA's must renew their certifications every three years.
