Executive Director of IAHSS!

1. What is one characteristic that you believe every leader should posses?

Communication skills with a positive attitude. Communication not only entails the ability to regularly articulate the visions and plans for the organization, but also includes the ability to actively listen to others. Leaders do not have all the answers, but if they truly listen to the needs, concerns and ideas of those around them then hopefully they can apply that information to developing solutions for the organization that work for everyone. However, leaders also need to continue focusing on the positive and making improvements for the future vs overanalyzing the problems of the past.

2. What are your aspirations for IAHSS and its members?

My aspiration is for the IAHSS to be the preeminent and most widely recognized and respected resource for healthcare security education and certification, and that the organization will continue to increase awareness and raise the profile of the healthcare security industry. The value of the membership benefits should be so obvious that joining and remaining committed to the IAHSS should be a "no- brainer" for all healthcare security professionals.

3. What are you most looking forward to as Executive Director of IAHSS?

I'm most looking forward to getting to know everyone and learning more about this incredibly important industry.

4. Husband? Kids? Hometown? College?

I''m originally from Toledo, Ohio and went to college at the University of Dayton. I moved to Chicago right after school and loved living in the city for many years. My husband and I got married in 2010 and since then, we''ve had two children and made the big decision to move to the suburbs of Chicago to raise our family.

I love traveling and learning about international cultures. In the last 20 years, I''ve been to 24 different countries on 5 continents. Now that I have two little ones at home, it''s been put on the back burner for a while, but we''ll get back to it at some point. My husband is Croatian and I still haven''t been to Croatia, so someday we''ll hopefully be able to take the kids bak to where he grew up.
